My Experience

My Experience

I’ve spent 22 years working in mental health, including nine years as part of emergency humanitarian operations in drought‑ and war‑affected regions of Eastern Africa. That work taught me how to support people in some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable, and it continues to shape the way I understand resilience, trauma, and human connection.

Before that, I worked for several years within UK mental health services, focusing on complex trauma, personality disorder, anxiety, and homelessness. This involved close collaboration with the NHS and emergency services, supporting people in acute distress, instability, and high‑risk situations. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of how trauma, crisis, and long‑term patterns intersect — and how to offer grounded, compassionate support when it matters most.

After returning to the UK, I’ve continued this work by applying my experience and knowledge in a busy private practice near London. I now provide therapy to adults online across the UK and internationally, as well as offering therapy to other therapists and delivering training to organisations and frontline teams.

Outside of work, I love salsa dancing, playing chess, and keeping up with the latest psychological research - you’ll usually find me with my nose in a book or research article.
